Bunny Bruning competed on the professional tennis tour for nine years, achieving world rankings of #41 in singles and #11 in doubles. Bruning is a five-time RSPA Missouri Valley Professional of the Year, she was inducted into both the Iowa Tennis and Missouri Valley Halls of Fame and was a 2024 Champions of Equality honoree. A RSPA Master Professional, Bruning served as RSPA National Vice-President. A RSPA Coach Developer and tireless mentor, she recently retired after 42 years as Tennis Director at Wakonda Club but continues to lead impactful programs like Bunny’s Buddies and a middle school initiative for eleven schools. Bruning is the founder and president of the Women Coaching Racquet Sports (WCRS), and the Central Iowa Tennis Association, and a Past-President of the Iowa Tennis Association. She lives on five acres with her wife and their seven cats. Bunny’s lifelong mission is to inspire and empower through racquet sports.
Peg Connor is the Executive Director of USTA Wyoming and a dynamic leader whose career spans every corner of the tennis world. A certified RSPA teaching professional, former collegiate coach, USTA clinician, pro tour events manager, and executive for a major racquet manufacturer, Peg brings unmatched experience to the court and the boardroom. With a deep passion for grassroots programming, she’s helped grow the game while driving brand and revenue impact for organizations, schools, and companies. Emma Doyle, is an international high-performance tennis coach, speaker, and mentor dedicated to empowering women and girls through tennis. A former D1 US college tennis player and Australian world team coach on 20 occasions, Doyle has led teams including the Junior Fed Cup and pioneered Girl Power Camps globally to build confidence and resilience in young female athletes. She is one of Tennis Australia’s lead facilitators for the Women and Girls Strategy Coach Connect program and a certified high-performance coach (Tennis Australia, PTR, RSPA). She has presented around the world as a keynote speaker and, as author of What Makes a Great Coach? Doyle is committed to creating more female tennis speakers and leaders. Her website houses her extensive tennis intellectual property, including her "How to Run a Girl Power Camp" and "Presentation Blueprint," designed to inspire and support more women in sharing their voice on stage. Angela Finan discovered tennis after the birth of her youngest son in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. What began as a casual beginner class quickly evolved into a lifelong passion - for both Finan and her family. After moving to Broomfield, Colorado, in 2006, she became a dedicated USTA volunteer, now serving as treasurer of the USTA Colorado District, vice-president of the USTA Intermountain Section, and member of the USTA National Advocacy Committee. Finan also chairs the USTA Colorado Awards Committee and supports the Colorado Tennis Hall of Fame & Awards Gala. Honored with the 2018 Heart of Broomfield Education Award, she is passionate about promoting inclusivity, mentoring others, and growing the game. Finan believes in the power of sport to connect people, uplift communities, and create lasting change.
Samantha Ghiselli, MD, FAAD is a double board-certified dermatologist with expertise in medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology, including Mohs micrographic surgery. Originally from South Africa, she moved to Southern California at age ten. She earned her undergraduate degree from USC and her medical degree from UC Irvine, where she graduated first in her class. After completing her internship at Scripps Mercy Hospital and dermatology residency at UC Irvine, she practiced in Southern California before moving to Denver in 2012. She co-founded Pure Dermatology, and in 2024 sold it to launch SKN Dermatology. Dr. Ghiselli is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Mohs Surgery, and the Colorado Dermatologic Society. Kristine Johnson is a leader and advocate for tennis. Her goal each day is to lead with passion, positivity and pride. She has served as Wilson Racquet Sports Territory Manager for over three decades, supporting facilities and players across the Intermountain region. Before Wilson, she directed tennis at Valley Racquet Club. Johnson was the first female president of USTA Colorado, the state tournament chairperson, and has served on volunteer committees at USTA national. She’s received Wilson’s Jack Kramer Award, recognizing the territory manager who has exhibited sales excellence and the core values of Wilson in the areas of grassroots and brand impact in their territory. She also was presented with USTA Colorado’s prestigious Bud Robineau Award for her longtime service to the Colorado tennis community. Johnson is a mother of four, an author, and co-owner of a cycling race with her husband Stephen, as well as a 10-time national cycling champion.
Nicole M. LaVoi, Ph.D. is a leading scholar on gender and sport, a Senior Lecturer in social and behavioral sciences in the School of Kinesiology at the University of Minnesota and the Director of the Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport. As a public scholar and through action-oriented collaborative research, she translates data and answers critical questions that can make a difference in the lives of girls and women. She is an award-winning athlete, coach, researcher and teacher, regional Emmy winner, sought after speaker, three-time Hall of Fame inductee and was named a 2023 Champion of Equality by the United States Tennis Association for her years of service. LaVoi played collegiate tennis at Gustavus Adolphus College winning a NCAA-III National Team Championship where she currently serves on the Board of Trustees. Prior to her career in higher education, she was a USPTA Teaching Professional and head tennis coach at Wellesley College. Sheila Ohlsson Walker, CFA, Ph.D. has been a competitive tennis player since childhood, and understands the transformational power of sport. Athletics is experiential learning for skills, behaviors and mindsets that promote health and flourishing across life. Much of her work focuses on the adults who impact youth. Relatedly, she seeks to empower young people with knowledge, agency and purpose that will support them in building self-narratives that catalyze lifelong thriving. Following a career as investment portfolio manager and earning a Chartered Financial Analyst designation, Walker obtained a doctorate in Behavioral Genetics from the Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry Centre at Kings College London. Her work applies cutting-edge neuroscience, genetics, psychology, and social science to promote healthy development across the lifespan, with a focus on youth. Walker is a Senior Scientist at the Institute for Applied Research in Youth Development at Tufts University, a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Education, an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and is the inaugural awardee of the Dr. Sachiko Kuno Award for Applied Science. She is on the Executive Leadership Committee and a lead funder of Project Play Colorado, serves on many boards including the International Tennis Hall of Fame and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Foundation, and is a member of the USTA Sport Science Commission and Hologic WTA Women’s Health Taskforce. Peaches ‘n Diesel is an Instagram “funfluencer” who uses humor to navigate important topics like her own Dateline NBC murder episode, USTA tennis happenings in her 3.5 world, fashion emergencies like cutouts and micro shorts as well as her new life as an empty nester. Not to mention the true delight and miracle that is being “middle-aged”. Karen Schott is the Director of Racquet Sports at The Broadmoor Hotel, where she runs the resort’s internationally recognized racquets program. She began her career at The Broadmoor in 1994 as a tennis teaching professional, working for International Tennis Hall of Famer Dennis Ralston. In 2005, she succeeded Ralston as Director of Tennis. The Broadmoor is the world’s longest-running consecutive Forbes Five-Star and Double Five-Diamond Resort and rated as one of the Top 20 tennis resorts in the country by Tennis Magazine for over 20 years. Beyond directing The Broadmoor’s racquets program, she actively contributes to the sport through leadership roles as Vice President of the RSPA Intermountain Division, and as a member of the USTA Colorado District Board of Directors and several USTA Colorado committees. A former top junior player in Colorado and the USTA Intermountain Section, Schott was also captain of her University of Denver tennis team.
Christin Schumann is a tennis professional at Life Time Fitness in St. Louis Park, MN, and Minikahda Club. A graduate of Ferris State University, Schumann earned her bachelor's degree in Professional Tennis Management. She is the Executive Director of the RSPA Northern Division, where she spearheads initiatives to connect, support, and elevate racquet sports professionals throughout the division. Schumann is also an RSPA Elite Certified Tennis Professional. In addition, she is a Coach Developer and a National Cardio Tennis Trainer, working to grow the game through player engagement and coach education. She leads workshops, certifies coaches, and introduces high-energy formats like Cardio Tennis and Cardio Tennis Triples to clubs, parks, and schools. Schumann is known for her enthusiastic coaching style, her commitment to professional development, and her ability to build strong, inclusive communities on and off the court. Whether she’s mentoring a new coach, or leading a conference, she brings energy, expertise, and a love for the game.
Mai-Ly Tran was named the fourth head coach in Colorado State women’s tennis history in 2021, becoming the second woman to lead the program. In just four seasons, she has elevated the Rams to new heights, guiding the team to multiple Mountain West semifinal appearances and setting a program record with 16 dual victories in 2022-23. Standout player Radka Buzkova thrived under Tran’s leadership, becoming the first player in school history to earn All-Mountain West honors in both singles and doubles three straight seasons. Prior to CSU, Tran spent five successful years as the head coach at Drake, where she coached the team to an NCAA Tournament appearance and earned MVC Coach of the Year honors in 2018. A former player at Cal State Fullerton, Tran’s coaching trail has additionally included stops at her alma mater, Hope International University and Orange Lutheran High School.
